The Temazcal is an ancestral tradition from our ancient Meshica cultures that have two basic aspects, on one side we have the spiritual aspect where the Temazcal with its form of an igloo, made with local rustic materials, represents the womb of our mother earth and we work inside with her four elements: earth, water, air and fire to purify and balance our mind, body and spirit. Here we give thanks to our mother earth for all we have and we ask for help to take away from us all things that we don’t need any more. Those things in many cases are a burden for us, which are limiting us. In short, the things that don’t allow us feel happy and feel fulfilled.
When all the ceremonial performance and the herbs and frankincense cleansing was developed outside, we go inside the Temazcal, where red hot lava rocks are in the center, seating around and we start sweating with the steam that it has created by spreading the hot stones with an abundance of aromatic and exquisite herbal tea. Here we ask for blessings and strength to our mother earth.
The other aspect is the physiological, where in the Temazcal will occur a deep detoxification. Hippocrates, the father of western medicine said: "Give me a fever and I could cure any disease." Today science knows that the heat increases the functions of each organ and particularly the immune system, which explains the wise action to raise the body temperature (fever) in the presence of certain diseases or infections.
The Temazcal helps to eliminate uric acid, lactic acid and generally to balance the pH (acid-alkaline) from the blood, and contributes to the elimination of heavy metals that are absorbed in modern societies such as Zinc, Mercury, Copper etc.
